The Real Toxic – A TBC Story

We started playing on the Warmane TBC server in May of 2017.  The server was a 5x (horde – 7x alliance) Burning Crusade server.  While this might seem very good, what actually happened was the reputation grind for SSC and TK actually was very terrible because most of us only had to level in one zone by the time we hit or got close to hitting 70.  So the only way to get the revered reputation we needed was go back and do the quests or do dungeon rep runs.  Most of us chose to do dungeon runs.

The majority of the guild was 70 and ready for raid the first week of July.  We quickly progressed through Karazhan (July), Gruul’s & Magtheridon (August).  Now comes the issue we had.  We initially went into the server as more of a casual let’s dink around on TBC.  After a few weeks, that itch to raid and go harder came to most of us.  I guess you can say “we” were not prepared.

While progressing through SSC and TK, we were having several different issues it took us a long time to resolve.  The main issue which demoralized most of us was when they implemented the cash shop.  Initially we thought, hey this won’t really matter because as a guild we can just choose to ignore it.  Boy were we wrong.  The server team, long story short, pretty obviously modified certain drop rates (Dragonspine Trophy, ect.) to make them much more rarer than they were intended.  This caused the bulk of us to inevitably be forced into buying certain items to stay competitive.   Most of our hearts just weren’t in it as much as other servers and in January of 2018 we decided as a guild to stop the TBC expansion and continue on with other adventures.
